For a second when we first heard Moose Blood’s new album I Don’t Think I Can Do This Anymore we thought we had been offered a glimpse into a pretty messy break-up, which is indeed true for the first track on the album ‘Have I told You Enough’ – which explores the strains that being on the road puts on relationships. Listen on further and the beautiful, heartfelt words start to unravel much deeper messages – delving into the bands experience of their rise to fame and touring since releasing their debut album I’ll Keep You in Mind, From Time to Time in 2012.
I don’t think I can do this anymore will be the Canterbury quartet’s third album and in contrast to the band’s first two album releases it feels more grown up and message laden, talking of experiences and tribulations of being in the band and coming out stronger on the other side.
One thing that can be said for Moose Blood is the boys songwriting abilities are breath of fresh air in a time where many can often be striving for the next catchy hook and ear-worm, there is a huge sense that the tracks on this album are coming straight from the heart. Moose Blood write each album as if it will be their last, and this shows in the end result, it is evident they have given it their all, resulting in relatable songs for the listener to take what they need from the lessons and messages in the lyrics.
‘We’ve put everything into this album, we always write like it might be the last album we ever get to make and we’ve challenged ourselves in every way we could on these songs’ – Mark E. Osbourne, Guitarist
Love them or hate them, there is no denying Moose Blood are masters of delivering messages from the heart.
