Festival organisers have announced that Welsh music festival Merthyr Rock has been cancelled this year, with no further plans to continue the festival.
The festival, which was set to take place in August this year, hosted a line-up of Taking Back Sunday, Reel Big Fish, Anti-Flag, The Blackout, Blitz Kids and more in 2014 – however, no acts were confirmed for the 2015 line-up, and the cancellation has been officially confirmed.
A full statement announcing the end Merthyr Rock this year (and potentially forever) was posted on the festival’s website. It reads:
“We’re sad to announce that there will be no Merthyr Rock festival in 2015.
We inherited Merthyr Rock as an event in 2013, and last year’s one day event and fringe festival went well, but for a combination of circumstances, we have regrettably decided not to stage the event this year.
We’d like to thank everybody who has supported the event over the last few years; our partners, the bands and of course our audience. Currently there are no plans for any further editions of Merthyr Rock.“
