US metalcore giants August Burns Red are currently revelling in the beauty that is their latest studio release, Found In Far Away Places. The album is an absolute cracker and if you haven’t heard it yet get a move on. The Pennsylvania quintet have just dropped a new video for the new track ‘Ghosts‘ and it’s a good one! Here’s just a few reasons why we’re so into it.
It’s Dark As Hell
From the black and white filter, to the eerie guitar drones this video is pretty fucking bleak. Fuelled by a strong meaningful message, the video sheds light on the horrors of poverty in the places you’d least expect, on your doorstep. The brutality of the music pairs beautifully with the video, all together pile driving this message into your skull. This shit matters people, take note.
Jeremy F*cking McKinnon
That’s right ladies and germs, the A Day To Remember frontman joins the mix delivering some killer cleans in true ADTR fashion. Although not actually appearing in the flesh in the video, Jeremy’s distinctive vocals can be pointed out immediately, contrasting the beastly growls of August Burns Red’s own Jake Luhrs. Maybe you could say Jeremy is a ghost in the video, eh? Anyone? Never mind.
Of Course It’s Heavy
As you would expect from August Burns Red, the track is no sickly pop number. Complete with blast beats, sensual solos and gnarly breakdowns, ABR make clear they’re not to be sniffed at. August Burns Red completely kill it, with everyone getting their own slice of screen time. Come on, the guys are performing in an abandoned warehouse. Fuck health and safety and bang those heads!
There’s Always Hope
Although it’s a heavy track from a heavy band, you can tell these guys know we can make a difference. Including the lyrics on the elderly mans sign was a nice touch, and how the shot turns from black and white to colour as he’s noticed is really effective. August Burns Red are clearly passionate about spreading this message and stopping poverty in it’s tracks and if this is their way of showing it then keep it coming guys, we hear you.
So what do you think of the new video for ‘Ghosts’? It’s awesome right? If you haven’t seen it yet we’ll leave a link for you below.
