Massive congratulations are in order for Japanese kawaii metallers BABYMETAL, who won the much coveted ‘Best Live Act’ award at Tuesday night’s AIM Independent Music Awards.

Votes from dedicated fans ensured the diminutive trio fought off fierce competition from The Courteeners, Caravan PalaceSunset Sons and Wolf Alice to scoop the accolade, a testament to their unique and explosive live shows.

After blowing our minds at Wembley Arena in April, we think it’s bloody well deserved!

“The UK for us has always felt like our second home since the first time we performed at a festival here over 2 years ago,” says lead vocalist SU-METAL. “We’ve been back plenty of times recently performing our first headline show at the SSE Arena Wembley and the support from the UK only ever gets stronger. Thanks AIM for recognizing BABYMETAL and to the fans for voting for us. We are more assured now that we can continue to stay true to ourselves as BABYMETAL!! We look forward to seeing you again in December on tour with Red Hot Chili Peppers.”

As announced last week, BABYMETAL will be supporting the Red Hot Chili Peppers during their December UK tour, in one of the most random (but brilliant) lineups of recent times:

05 – LONDON O2
06 – LONDON O2
08 – GLASGOW Hydro
10 – BIRMINGHAM Genting Arena
11 – BIRMINGHAM Genting Arena
14 – MANCHESTER Arena
15 – MANCHESTER Arena
18 – LONDON O2
