In the sphere of rock and metal, Download wears the crown for the genres most infamous festival; lineup additions, omissions, and positions often dominate discussion for the months leading up to the weekend in Donnington. This all comes with a very little surprise, arguably no festival in existence has been the birthplace to more defining moments in a bands career than Download (remember Slipknot in 2009?). With some fairly recent lineup additions we thought we'd sift through and give you some pointers on who not to miss out on come June.
You Me At Six
For those that don’t fancy seeing Avenged Sevenfold headline the main stage, this one is perhaps to fill a curiosity void more than anything else, Night People was a giant fall backwards for the band, who seemingly had British rock music in the palm of their hands between 2011-2014. After frontman Josh Franceschi acknowledged on the Rock Sound podcast that Night People wasn’t everything it could have been, and a new record already in the works – it will be particularly interesting to see how the Surrey boys approach headlining the Zippo Encore stage, the feeling of “make or break” is starting to approach the band.
